NODE.JS / FROM SCRIPTS TO SERVERS
JavaScript. Beyond
the browser.
Learn the runtime behind command-line tools and web APIs. Explore modules, files, asynchronous work and HTTP, then run a real starter project on your computer.
FIND THE ANSWER / UNDERSTAND THE REASON
24 common questions, explained.
Search by question, app or symptom. Answers include practice steps and official documentation. Guidance reviewed October 5, 2026; verify behavior in your affected environment.
CHANGE AN INPUT / INSPECT THE RESULT
Your Node.js workbench.
Explore seven local learning labs. Browser simulations explain Node concepts; they do not run a Node process. Download the starter to execute real Node.js code on your computer.
TURN IDEAS INTO TESTABLE WORK
Build something you can explain.
One runnable starter supports four projects: a CLI, a file report, a read-only HTTP API and a test suite. Download it from Review & resources, then record your observed results here.
RETURN / RECALL / REVISE
Keep what you understand.
Recall practice
Your learning record
Completion requires a correct scenario answer, an artifact of at least 80 characters and a reflection of at least 40 characters. Editing an answer or written work reopens the lesson.
Review timing follows your own rating, not a measured estimate of mastery.
Run real Node.js on your computer
Download and extract the starter. Use a supported Node.js release, minimum Node 22. Open a terminal in the extracted folder. No dependency installation is required.
Download Node.js project starter ZIP ↓Download setup and commands ↓node --version
node cli.mjs Ada
node report.mjs
npm test
npm startThe server listens locally at http://127.0.0.1:3000. Stop it with Ctrl+C. It is a read-only learning API, not a deployed production service.
